#543 What Brings Us Peace No Matter What Happens
No matter what happens in our political world, may we fulfill Psalm 29:3-11
Regardless of the results, trouble will continue to unfold as is symbolically expressed in regard to the time in which we live:
the voice of the LORD breaking the cedars of Lebanon,
the voice of the LORD hewing out flames of fire,
shaking the wilderness of Kadesh,
causing the gazelles to bring forth and stripping the forests.
MAY WE IN HIS TEMPLE CRY OUT GLORY! Psalm 29:9
When we witness the effects of sin and rebellion against God in our world we are called to hate the sin, yet love the sinner. Romans 5:6-9; Hebrews 1:9; Matthew 5:43-44 When we see political, social, religious, economic or personal storms we have the privilege of STANDING IN AWE BEFORE HIM, in the midst of His Plan unfolding before our eyes, knowing that “The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD is enthroned as King forever.” Verse 10 NIV We see the Glory of the final fruitage of this permission of evil, and this difficult time of the judgment and consequences that come from sin: the liberation from this weary world’s bondage. Romans 8:20
We must not get stuck in fearful focus, but fix our hearts on the fact the He is working through the trouble to create Blessing for all. Psalm 30:5
And any trouble that touches our lives is the refining fire of His choice. 1 Peter 1:3-7; John 18:11
The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.” Psalm 29:11
He will bless his people with peace even in the midst of this tumultuous process.
We will claim this strength and this peace for ourselves and for one another!
"Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast." Isaiah 26:30
THERE is an affectionate tenderness about these words of our Heavenly Father which helps us to realize His great love for His people, and His special care over them. Through His prophet, taking the standpoint of the end of this age, He is forewarning us of a great time of trouble which is just imminent (verses 5,6,21)—"a time of trouble such as was not since there was a nation," when the whole present order of things, civil, social and religious, shall be swept with the besom of destruction. Yet in the midst of it all He would have His people in rest and peace in Him, as saith the prophet, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusteth in Thee. Trust ye in the Lord for ever; for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength."--Verses 3,4. R1787 (Thank you Sister Betty!)
