#687 Abiding in Their Love
“Just as the Father has loved me, I have also loved you; abide in my love.” John 15:9
“It is blessed to mark this oneness between Christ Jesus and the members of His Body....with loving solicitude He marks the progress of His Body-members as they develop in character-likeness to Himself, and says, "They are Mine; and I am glorified in them" (John 17:10); and He would have them all bound up together with Himself in the Father's Love.” R 5213
Isaiah 49:15-16 captures some powerful illustrations of the Father’s love for His people.
“Can a woman forget her nursing child,
and have no compassion on the son of her womb?
Even these may forget, but I will not forget you.
Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands;
Your walls are continually before Me.”
These words describe the Father’s heart connection and affection, and the focused attention that is indelibly committed to us as well as to natural Israel. The walls that are continually before His attention could represent the need for spiritual strength and protection that is always in His awareness. How we rejoice in the depth of this Loving attention toward us!
And if we apply John 15:9 to our lives, this committed affection and focused attention will be given to the Father and to our Lord Jesus, AND TO ONE ANOTHER!
What a blessing to observe how Their love is expressed and to abide in that love and to have this connection of attention toward one another!
My our committed affectionate focused attention and the need for the spiritual strength and protection of our Brethren ever be on our hearts!
“If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love; just as I kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.” John 15:10-11
What a source of joy to live this love!
