#726 All Things in the Name of Jesus
“And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.” Colossians 3:17
Do and say all things in the name of Jesus:
Invoke his name—his character and all he stands for, pray for his direction and support, do and say all things in accordance with the character of Jesus--think and act according to the mind of Christ, bringing every thought (and therefore every word and action to extent of our ability) captive to the attentive listening of Christ;
(2 Corinthians 10:5) think, act and speak in his name and by his authority.
Giving thanks thru him to God the Father: Expressing gratitude for the privilege of performing the every day task, or some form of service, gratitude for the strength to do what needs to be done, gratitude for empowerment to honor our Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus, gratitude for Jesus as our example, gratitude for the preciousness of knowing and experiencing Jesus and the power of the name of Jesus.
Teach us more and more to value, treasure and protect this precious spiritual life we have been given, especially when the refining experiences are especially challenging. Realizing the preciousness of our privileges makes it possible to experience ‘loss’ as ‘gain.’
Again I want to quote this verse: “Yes, furthermore, I count everything as loss compared to the possession of the priceless privilege (the overwhelming preciousness, the surpassing worth, and supreme advantage) of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord and of progressively becoming more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him [of perceiving and recognizing and understanding Him more fully and clearly]. For His sake I have lost everything and consider it all to be mere rubbish (refuse, dregs), in order that I may win (gain) Christ (the Anointed One).” Philippians 3.8 AMPC
Every experience is intended to be part of this priceless privilege as we learn more and more to do and say (think) ALL THINGS in the name of Jesus.
