#412 An Olive Tree in the house of God Psalm 52.8
“But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God;
I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.” Psalm 52:8 NIV
“Flourishing in the house of God”
We are ‘planted’ in the house of God.
This is the best atmosphere and ‘soil’ for flourishing spiritually, to abide in His presence and to be rooted and grounded in the love of God in Christ Jesus.
“One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek;
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
He will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle
and set me high upon a rock.” Psalm 27:4
(“I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.”)
What does it mean to dwell and to therefore flourish in the house of God?
Psalm 27:4 points us to some vital issues that we need to address:
What it is that we seek?
Where do our thoughts dwell?
What do we gaze or contemplate upon?
What do we see most during our day?
O LORD, free us from distraction and focus on the problem.
Captivate us with the Beauty of Who You Are.
It is when we are in the Temple Perspective abiding in His presence, that amid the storm
we can label the experience as “Glory!” and “Awesome!” Psalm 29:3-9, 10-11
“I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.”
We can trust His unfailing love in this present moment.
We can trust His unfailing love in the moments to come, whatever the future may hold.
We can trust His unfailing love in every moment for eternity.
So dear fellow Olive Trees, may we continue to flourish and grow to His honor and glory, come what may, because we are planted in the house of God, rooted and established in the lengths and breadths and heights and depths of the love of Christ. Ephesians 3:17-19
