#673 Antidotes for Personal Unrest Amid Unfolding Events of our Day Part 1
In the turmoil and conflict of our world, I sometimes get over-focused on these events and how these unfolding events may come to affect my life. I can also get over-focused and troubled about the political events of our day. We have so much of material things that may be easy to take for granted; we have been blessed with a lot of our experience in relative peace, with law and order at the helm in contrast with other Brethren in other countries and throughout the age. The question, Will I be faithful come what may, is a searching one.
One antidote for personal fear and unrest is more heart-felt focus on Kingdom Joy and Blessing, part of the joy set before us. Hebrews 12:2; Revelation 1:6; Ephesians 1:7-10
One of our dear Brethren shared some quotes:
"Let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen." Psalm 72:19
“This is a large petition. To intercede for a whole city needs a stretch of faith, and there are times when a prayer for one man is enough to stagger us.” Selected
I appreciate that Psalm 72 is largely a prayers.
Just as we pray “The Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven” so we can pray
the verses in this Psalm, i.e. “May he come down like rain upon the mown grass, like showers that water the earth. In his days may the righteous flourish, and abundance of peace till the moon is no more.” Psalm 72:5-7 When we may have apprehension and fear about the coming events, we can find these Kingdom promises, we can pray their prophetic words wholeheartedly for their complete fulfillment and we can use our sanctified imagination to picture the blessed healing of all hearts and relationships.
“It is in Him, and through the shedding of his blood, that we have our deliverance—the forgiveness of our offenses—so abundant was God’s grace, the grace which He, the possessor of all wisdom and understanding, lavished upon us, when He made known to us the secret of His will. And this is in harmony with God’s merciful purpose for the government of the world when the times are ripe for it—the purpose which He has cherished in His own mind of restoring the whole creation to find its one Head in Christ; yes, things in heaven and things on earth, to find their one Head in Him.” Ephesians 1:7-10 Weymouth
