#408 Arise and Eat
The LORD has made it abundantly clear that some of the intensity of my recent struggles is due to being emotionally exhausted from circumstance and demands of life over a period of time.
I am rarely so sensitive and emotional, and then in this sensitive state of mind I was judging myself for being so sensitive. I was reminded by a friend to respect the emotions as indicators. Our emotions can point us to the thoughts that created them, and to the state of our physical well being, or lack thereof. Another dear sister shared her need to rest and re-group in the midst of demanding experiences and stress.
In the spirit of Elijah, sometimes the next spiritual step is to take a nap and then to “Arise and eat:” Rest, eat healthy food, both literal and spiritual, and then go forward in the strength of that nourishment. 1 Kings 19:3-8
My emotions were pointing me to the need to rest, the need to quiet my negative thoughts , the need to listen to His Voice and feed on His Word.
I received a timely message, also pointing to this awareness. My original way of describing my experiences was “as challenges that keep on presenting themselves.” That perception was about to be corrected!
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27 KJV
It takes a childlike simplicity and humbleness, yes, but it also must be developed by reverence and respect to God. Peace that comes from Him is the peace that waits on Him to guide us and to grant us the grace sufficient in every time of need; every time of need.
Listen to the wisdom which says it thus…
“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.” James 1:19
So listen today; Listen moment by moment …
Be ye holy in conversation…
“Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.” Psalm 66:16
All these thoughts were from the LORD sent to revive my very tired heart and mind which were quick to engage in negative conversation INSIDE my heart and mind.
Being “swift to hear” requires being quiet!
What a blessing to QUIET my voice and listen to HIS, and be nourished by the truth in that Word. It is the voice of God and Christ that remind me that these challenges DO NOT KEEP ON PRESENTING THEMSELVES, they are CHOSEN THROUGH Unfathomable riches of Wisdom and Love. Philippians 4:19!
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.” Col 2:6-8
Our own limited and negative perspectives can be included in hollow and deceptive philosophy.
Teach us to listen to Your Voice and the Voice of Our Savior in regard to our feelings, emotions and perceptions.
Free us LORD, from every perception that is not based on Christ.
