#618 Arms Wide Open
“…who, although he existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men, (NASB) and having become a man, he humbled himself by living a life of utter obedience, (Phillips) to the point of death, even death on a cross.” NASB
Ephesians 3.16-17
The dimensions of Divine love can be pictured in the dimensions of the Cross:
The width, the length, the height, the depth.
The mind of Christ is ‘arms wide open.’
He lived and died with arms open wide--
Open wide to the Will of the Father, open wide to love--
“I delight to do Thy will, O my God…” even to the death of the cross.
“Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus…” Philippians 2:5
“I pray that out of the glorious richness of his resources he will enable you to know the strength of the spirit’s inner reinforcement—that Christ may actually live in your hearts by your faith.
And I pray that you, firmly fixed in love yourselves, may be able to grasp (with all Christians) how wide and deep and long and high is the love of Christ—and to know for yourselves that love so far beyond our comprehension.” Ephesians 3:16-19 Phillips
O LORD, we want to welcome the love and learning behind every challenge
and to love with the love of Christ in thought and in service.
This privilege has been bought by so great a price of sacrifice.
Empower us to live the mind of Christ, ‘with arms wide open.’
