Christ came that we might have life abundantly, correct?
What does the abundant life look like? WHAT percentage do you think indulges in 'all good things' b/c it's part of having an 'abundant life,'
Does self-abnegation completely contradict the concept of living an 'abundant life'???
Answer:
He came to pay the ransom for Father Adam's sin as well as a sin offering.
Joh 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
This promise is only for the faithful Christian and not in this life, but in the next when we are promised if we endure to the end that we will be Kings and Priests.
Paul says of those who try to take the promises to the faithful Christian and apply them now "I would to God that ye did reign, and I would reign with you."--but the fact is those scriptures do not apply in the current life--we are told that "think it not strange that the world hate you", "Mother will be against son and son against parent and so forth." We are told to endure, to hold fast.
Do those admonitions sound like life abundant? No--that is the goal that is the hope that helps us to hold fast.
We need to take all the scriptures on a given topic and rightly divide them. If some say one thing and some another--perhaps as in this case we are applying them to the wrong dispensation. All scriptures have to be weighed in before a conclusion can be made.
Joh_15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
1Jn_3:13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
Luk_12:53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Mat 10:23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. 24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. 25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?
