Disqualifications for the Priesthood

Disqualifications for the Priesthood
Lev 21:16-24 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, (17) Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God. (18) For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous, (19) Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded, (20) Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken; (21) No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God. (22) He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy. (23) Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the LORD do sanctify them. (24) And Moses told it unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel.

And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (Rev 1:6)
And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. (Rev 5:10)

The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. (Mat 6:22)

For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. (Mat 13:15)
But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. (Mat 13:16)

And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see: (Luk 10:23)
For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. (Luk 10:24)
No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light. (Luk 11:33)
The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. (Luk 11:34)
Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. (Luk 11:35)
If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light. (Luk 11:36)

For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. (Act 28:27)

He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. (1Jn 2:9)
He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. (1Jn 2:10)
But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes. (1Jn 2:11)
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (1Jn 2:16)
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: (Rev 3:17)
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. (Rev 3:18)
Lame
The Christian Walk (sin in our walk, or shortcomings)
If my step hath turned out of the way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any blot hath cleaved to mine hands; (Job 31:7)
And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. (Heb 12:13)
Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. (1Co 9:24)
And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. (1Co 9:25)
I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: (1Co 9:26)
But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. (1Co 9:27)
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, (Heb 12:1)
Flat nose
Nose used for smelling (for good or bad) We smell differences. Incapable of perceiving in others goodness. Not capable of discerning good or evil. Discerning Times/Seasons, Truth/Falsehoods. Not able to judge correctly.
Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerneth both time and judgment. (Ecc 8:5)
And thou shalt burn the whole ram upon the altar: it is a burnt offering unto the LORD: it is a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the LORD. (Exo 29:18)
For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: (2Co 2:15)
To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? (2Co 2:16)
For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ. (2Co 2:17)
Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: so doth a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour. (Ecc 10:1)
Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people? (1Ki 3:9)
Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerneth both time and judgment. (Ecc 8:5)
And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean. (Eze 44:23)
And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? (Mat 16:3)
Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time? (Luk 12:56)
Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right? (Luk 12:57)
Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. (1Co 2:13)
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (1Co 2:14)
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. (1Co 11:28)
For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. (1Co 11:29)
For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. (1Co 11:30)
For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. (1Co 11:31)
But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. (1Co 11:32)
Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. (Heb 5:11)
For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. (Heb 5:12)
For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. (Heb 5:13)
But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses [sense of smell] exercised to discern both good and evil. (Heb 5:14)
For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil. (Rom 16:19)
Anything Superfluous
Superfluous means extra. Extra fingers or toes (kind of like the Judaizing Christians who tried to add that you had to obey the Law besides Christ.) Could also be a deformity.
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. (Deu 4:2)
What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it. (Deu 12:32)
Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. (Pro 30:5)
Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. (Pro 30:6)
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: (Rev 22:18)
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (Rev 22:19)
Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. (Mat 15:2)
But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? (Mat 15:3)
But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses. (Act 15:5)
Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment: (Act 15:24)
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. (Mat 6:7)
Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. (Eph 5:6)
Brokenfooted
Also affects the walk as does the lame. Not a defect, but an injury that has occurred. A fracture or break is out of alignment. Off the path.
And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. (1Ki 18:21)
For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me. (Psa 38:16)
For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me. (Psa 38:17)
For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin. (Psa 38:18)
Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. (Mat 18:8)
And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: (Mar 9:45)
In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. (Joh 5:3)
Brokenhanded
Hand is a picture of service and fellowship, endorsement
Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. (Act 20:34)
I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. (Act 20:35)
And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision. (Gal 2:9)
Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure. (1Ti 5:22)
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. (Jas 4:8)
And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, (Rev 14:9)
The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: (Rev 14:10)
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. (Mat 6:24)
But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. (Luk 22:26)
For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth. (Luk 22:27)
If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. (Joh 12:26)
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. (Rom 16:17)
For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. (Rom 16:18)
If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: (2Jn 1:10)
For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds. (2Jn 1:11)
Crookbackt
Spiritually has no backbone, not able to stand straight or firmly or walk uprightly. We can back a wrong principle.
Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: (Rom 11:20)
That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. (1Co 2:5)
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. (1Co 10:12)
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; (1Co 15:1)
Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. (1Co 16:13)
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. (Gal 5:1)
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. (Eph 6:10)
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Eph 6:11)
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Eph 6:12)
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (Eph 6:13)
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; (Eph 6:14)
Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; (Php 1:27)
Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved. (Php 4:1)
For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord. (1Th 3:8)
Dwarf
Spiritually immature, has not grown
And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. (1Co 3:1)
I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. (1Co 3:2)
For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? (1Co 3:3)
(Heb 5:13)
But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (Heb 5:14)
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: (1Pe 2:2)
Blemish in his eye
Not blind but impaired or distracted, Can’t look inward.
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? (Mat 7:3)
Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? (Mat 7:4)
Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. (Mat 7:5)
Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: (Mar 7:22)
All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. (Mar 7:23)
Scurvy
H1618 גּרב gârâb gaw-rawb'
From an unused root meaning to scratch; scurf (from itching): - scab, scurvy.
Scabbed
H3217 ילּפת yallepheth yal-leh'-feth
From an unused root apparently meaning to stick or scrape; scurf or tetter: - scabbed.
A rash, itchy.
Touchy, very sensitive, overly sensitive, or easily irritated.
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2Ti 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Stones Broken
Not able to pro-create that is they do not witness so that others may also come into Christ. To make or assist in making other Christians they don’t have the capability, which could also be lack of development to teach anyone anything.
Another way to look at it is that they have no fruit (no productivity)
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. (Mar 16:15)
Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. (Luk 9:60)
And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. (Act 10:42)
For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. (1Co 1:17)
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. (1Co 1:18)
Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel. (1Co 9:14)
But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void. (1Co 9:15)
For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! (1Co 9:16)
For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me. (1Co 9:17)
What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel. (1Co 9:18)
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. (2Ti 4:2)
Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. (Mat 13:18)
When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. (Mat 13:19)
But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; (Mat 13:20)
Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. (Mat 13:21)
He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. (Mat 13:22)
But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. (Mat 13:23)
And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down. (Luk 13:9)
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. (Joh 15:4)
Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. (Joh 15:8)
Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: (Mat 3:8)
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? (Mat 7:16)
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. (Mat 7:20)
They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. (Mat 21:41)
…Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. (Mat 21:43)
Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. (Luk 3:8)
Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) (2Co 9:10)
Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. (Php 1:11)
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. (Jas 3:17)
Lessons for the Christian as we are called to be Priests of God in the next age.
And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (Rev 1:6)
And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. (Rev 5:10)
Blind
Spiritual eyesight blind. Doesn’t have their eyes on the prize, the finish line.
But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. (2Pe 1:9)
And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. (Mat 5:29)
The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. (Mat 6:22)
But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! (Mat 6:23)
(Mat 13:16)
Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good? (Mat 20:15)
Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember? (Mar 8:18)
(Luk 11:36)
To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. (Act 26:18)
Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: (Act 28:26)
For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. (Act 28:27)
What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded (Rom 11:7)

And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them: (Rom 11:9)

(1Ki 3:9)

(Mat 15:2)

(1Co 3:3)
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
(Jas 3:17)
