#532 Dwelling in His Shadow and Watching from the Wings Psalm 91.1-4
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.”
Psalm 91:1
Some thoughts from Brother Larry McClellen’s talk on Psalm 91
Dwell in the shelter of the Most High, shadowed by Promises that shelter us in faith
*The present environment is a world of turmoil, men’s hearts failing them for fear.
[Where is MY HEART?] Are we rising above the turmoil?
*Truth is our protection! Psalm 91:4
*Perfect your intentions to follow holiness: have daily goals: WHAT SHALL I RENDER TO THE LORD? Answer the question!: Today I will let His spirit work in me to……be patient…to trust….to be kind…..etc.
*Secret place: intimate communion and fellowship with the Father; 1Peter 3:12 The ears of the Lord are open—this is Divine Attention: He is carefully listening to every word! He is looking for simple child like trust: When you call on Him you never get a busy signal!
*Hebrews 13:5 I will never, never, never let go of your hand
91:9-12 No evil will befall thee; nothing can happen unless He permits it. Powerful angels won’t let anything happen that’s not good for your spiritual life!
*Faith is the grave of worry; we don’t know what awaits us except His Blessing!
*Psalm 46:1 Therefore we won’t be afraid! Because HE is our refuge and strength; The River of truth makes our hearts glad verse 4! Psalm 46: 5: God is in the midst of her!
*The promises stretch our faith! MEMORIZE THEM! [Memorization of scripture is one way to DWELL in the safe and sacred condition of intimacy with the Father and our Precious Savior.]
*DWELL in the secret place of the most High; [Don’t just visit!!! LIVE there!!!]
I had wonderful fellowship with a Brother and Sister from India. The Brother had chickens when he lived there. He described how when there was a threat the little chicks would scurry over to their Mother Hen, and then they would peek out from under her wings; he could see their little eyes…
“I will say to the LORD”—this is our declaration and our determination!
‘My refuge [shelter] and my fortress [tower]’—we personally claim His power and protection.
‘My God, in whom I trust!’—We trust [Strong’s #982] in him—we run quickly for refuge to Him, like those little chicks to the Mother Hen.
How does he deliver us from the snare of the trapper and threats to our spiritual life? Vs 4
“He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge” [flee for protection, confide]! Psalm 91:2-4 Again the picture of the chicks running to the Mother Hen.
It is an amazing blessing to watch challenges and ‘fearful events’ unfold from the safety of His wings and promises, and not be in the middle of the barn yard without protection…
Forget living in the barn yard…Lets dwell and reside in the shelter of the Most High, shadowed by Promises that shelter us in faith. What a difference to watch from the wings!
I can sense the voice of my Savior speaking to me through Matthew 23:37 How often I want to gather you like a hen gathers her chicks---PLEASE BE WILLING—please do not refuse!
(I see how important it is to ‘be willing’ by continuously surrendering anxious thoughts!)
