#364 Escape from Stress, Equipped with Hinds Feet Habakkuk 3.19
When you feel like you are 'trapped' and its impossible to go forward, take a look at this picture and remember the promise in Habakkuk 3:18-19! Sometimes I feel like the goat in the center of the picture...
Sometimes the will of the Lord is hard for us to accept. But regardless of the circumstance He is the God who keeps His promises and we can exult (Strong’s 5937) or “jump for joy” in Him, for He will equip us to deal with any terrain of experience.
“Yet I will exult in the LORD,
I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.
The Lord GOD is my strength,
And He has made my feet like hinds’ feet,
And makes me walk on my high places.” Habakkuk 3:18-19
"It is God who arms me with strength
and makes my way perfect.
He makes my feet like the feet of a deer;
He enables me to stand on the heights." Psalm 18:32-33
Picture the agility, coordination and grace of mountain goats, and how effortlessly they leap from one rock to another. And I realize that this is the strength that the Lord wishes to arm me with, the strength to spiritually leap from one obstacle to the next, the strength to not get stuck in guilt or resentment or anxiety. His desire is to make me 'sure-footed' so that I can go forward in His strength in the changing terrain of life’s experiences.
It inspires me to picture the graceful leaps of the hind; it inspires me to realize that God desires to give me that same grace and strength, and it inspires me to imagine myself with this sure-footed agility and grace in the face of my challenges.
He makes my way perfect.
The rough mountain terrain is perfect for a mountain goat. It provides a complete workout, complete exhilaration, and complete practice for keeping their God-given legs in shape. The mountain is perfect for them because they have been created for the mountain. The 'perfection' of our way, our own mountain terrain of challenge is not because the rocks, the boulders and the incline in themselves are the perfect road to walk on, but because HE has given us the perfect 'feet' to match the challenge!
My brother reminded me in this context: “Be ready to leap into action.”
He has equipped us to leap into action according to His will.
I keep reminding myself: This mountain challenge is perfect because He has given me feet to match the mountain!
