#635 Facing Challenge Equipped with His Armor Part 3
Its impossible to win a battle with just defense. For a battle to be won, there must be offensive activity. All parts of the armor are defensive—for protection. Protection is very very necessary in battle. But there is one offensive weapon—the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. It is by the offensive use of the Word and Promises of God that we are able to gain spiritual ground and triumph in Christ. Claiming the Promises of God in the face of specific challenge gives us the means of gaining spiritual ground and gaining more ‘possession’ of the land of promise through spiritual growth. We use the sword of the Word and Promises of God as we claim and are inspired by His Truth and Promises.
“The Christian who bears the strongest testimony for God is the one whose faith is just simple enough to take Him at His word, and whose piety consists simply in reverent and loyal obedience to the will of God and in the faithful study of His will, with a view to personal conformity to it. R1528
I appreciate the above quote and a comment shared by a dear Sister: “Trusting HIS PROMISES is the basis of power to have faith in the middle of the challenge.”
It was a loving reminder from the Lord to Find a verse to claim in the midst of challenge.
The helpful reminder includes identifying the issue and the ‘unrenewed self talk,’ and to ask HIM to direct me to a verse that states the TRUTH instead of my negative perception.
For example:
I labelled myself as unable to talk to people, with nothing to offer. Pray for a verse to claim:
Claim Ephesians 2:10, that I am His workmanship, created to have a contribution!
In the face of feeling worn out…sometimes not knowing how to go forward: Pray for a verse to claim: Claim 1 Corinthians 15:58 (again!) “And so, brothers of mine, stand firm! Let nothing move you as you busy yourselves in the Lord’s work. Be sure that nothing you do for him is ever lost or ever wasted.”
When I feel guilty and defeated because of some of my emotional reactions and how I fall short, pray for a verse to claim:
Claim Lamentations 3:22-23 The Lord’s lovingkindnesses (Chesed covenant love and affection) indeed never cease, for His compassions (#7356 compassion—in the plural; by extension the womb, as cherishing the foetus) never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. And this word “compassions” so aptly fits in with the Sister’s comment on what full peace in the Lord means: “The full confidence in Him, the yielding of one's self to His embrace like an infant asleep in a mother's arms.”
