#566 Facing the Challenge with Praise, Prayer and Perspective
Praise empowers us to fulfill our vows—
“ I will praise your name forever, that I might daily perform my vows.” Psalm 61:8
Praise empowers us to drink the Cup He has poured.
And these thoughts are perfect for me to remember now in the midst of a rather challenging employee issue. Praise and Prayer help us to see His Perspective.
Praise:
“My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises!
I will give thanks to Thee, O Lord, among the peoples, I will sing praises to Thee among the nations. For Thy lovingkindness is great to the heavens, and Thy truth to the clouds.” Psalm 57:7, 9-10 No matter what the circumstance we will choose to praise You, for your Faithful Checed Covenant Love and Affection in every permission and overruling are greater than we can comprehend.
Prayer:
Praying for wisdom to be objective and to make fair decisions, not motivated by fear, but by righteous principles, and praying for perspective to not be define myself by mistakes I may have made in the past! Ephesians 2:10
I love the dependence that Jesus exemplified, and have paraphrased John 5:30 as my own prayer: I can do nothing on my own initiative. I want to hearken attentively to Your voice, so that I will judge and choose on the basis of what I hear through Your Word and providence. May my thinking and decision making be just, because I seek not my will, but Yours. John 5:30
Perspective:
“When the Lord's people find themselves in difficulty, they should reason like this: What is the Lord's will? What does His providence indicate? He has said that all things shall work together for good to me because I love Him; therefore, having confidence in God, I am sure that all things shall indeed work out for my good. I have faith in His Wisdom and His Power and His Love. He could have protected me from this difficulty had He seen best. So the fact of its reaching me proves that He saw fit to permit it for a wise reason. He has promised that He will not suffer me to be tempted, tried, beyond what I am able to bear. As He is faithful, He will never fail to keep that good promise. So then, I will "not cast away my confidence, which hath great recompense of reward." R5595
Don’t be afraid of sudden issues and conflicts…for the Lord will be your confidence and will help you to triumph over the trap of old thinking and ways. Paraphrase of Proverbs 3.25-26
