#598 Father Glorify Thy Name Part 2 (Practical application)
What is the practical application in our lives of the words “Father Glorify Thy Name?”
For us “Father, Glorify Thy name” is a prayer to love The Father and our Lord Jesus supremely, and to search for ways to express that love, to our dear Brethren, to those whose lives we touch in this world.
A dear Brother shared these thoughts in connection with the meaning of “Father, glorify Thy name”: “One of the grandest of the Lord's revealments to me has been to love more; to make love the action plan for each and every day. It is the point of our assembling with our brethren, the point of our studies, the point of the entire plan of the ages, the divine plan.”
So daily we come to Them with the question:
“Show me your ways, O LORD,
Teach my Your paths.”—show me the path of love to follow this day.
“Guide me in your truth and teach me,
For You are God my Savior,
And my hope is in You all day long.” Psalm 25:4-5
So daily we ask: What is Your action plan of love for me today?
Direct me to a Brother or Sister; direct me to a verse to pray for them, a verse or thought to send to them. Ephesians 6:18
Direct me see a need and know how to fill it—through a specific communication—a phone call, an email, a text, a visit; a specific service. James 1:27
Direct us on how to stimulate and incite one another to love and good works. Hebrews 10:24
Direct us to guide us in Your Love and teach us, in every relationship and circumstance to honor and glorify Your name by completely receiving and believing in Your love for us, by supremely loving You and then expressing that love to every person that touches our lives, even if only in silent prayer.
To glorify His name by living this love will result in fullness of joy. “I have loved you just as the Father has loved me. You must go on living in my love. If you keep my commandments you will live in my love just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and live in his love. I have told you this so that you can share my joy, and that your joy may be full. This is my commandment: that you love each other as I have loved you.” John 15.10-11 Philipps/NASB
To own no will but Thine,
To suffer loss or shame,
All things to bear, if only I
May glorify Thy name.
(Poems of Dawn 38)
