#599 Father Glorify Thy Name Part 3 (A roadblock to be aware of)
What can get in the way of our desire and prayer, “Father, glorify Thy name”? “Me”!
“Father Glorify Thy name” is a prayer to love The Father and our Lord Jesus supremely, and to search for ways to express that love, to our dear Brethren, to those whose lives we touch in this world. The Brother who shared making love the action plan for every day also shared this: “Our plan for working through the daily burdens, trials, temptations, has been too long focused on my thoughts, failures...” Looking away from discouraging introspection was a warning from our pastor in the 'concluding thoughts' chapter in volume one. “Look away from self and its unavoidable weaknesses and imperfections, knowing that all such weaknesses are covered fully by the merits of the ransom given by Christ Jesus our Lord, and that your sacrifices and self-denials are acceptable to God through our Redeemer and Lord—and this only.” A346
I am realizing that the ability to have the name of the Father glorified through our lives is possible when we truly let Their love for us fully into our hearts. Supreme love for the Father and the Son originates from their supreme love for us. We loved him because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19
As we learn to fully accept this love, their love can be perfected in us—it can have complete dominance over our lives—and we are empowered to love one another, part of abiding in Him, through the spirit he has given us 4:12-13
We have come to KNOW assuredly and to believe the love God has for us 4:16
This process of KNOWING and relying on His love, KNOWING and trusting the power and authority of Jesus to forgive sin and cleanse us, and living a lifestyle of LOVE makes us open to being led to HOW to express our love for Brethren, and creates a complete and dominant love in our hearts which casts out fear--
We delight to do HIS will; this love for God, for Christ, for Brethren, for others creates a mindset that is not focused on What if’s and the Unknown.!!! This love is not the source of fear that breeds guilt and fear of consequences, or fear that leads to restraint and holding back our love. Not only does this love cast out fear, this love brings us JOY. John 15:11
When we do not fully Let Him love us, when we do not fully believe the depth of this love and commitment, we can be insecure and dwell too much on how we may fall short, and this thinking can lead to a preoccupation with self that interferes with the ability to focus on the needs of others.
This is a road block and obstacle on the journey to express love because the nature of love is not over-focus on self. Over focus on self can get in the way of focus on loving others with the love The have loved us with.
“We must learn to live in the centre of a great love the dimensions of which we have yet to comprehend. Exceeding great and precious promises, the abundance of His thoughts towards us, the riches of His mercy and tender love, all combine to produce that warm inner glow of the beloved of God. The mighty fortress of all the divine resources remains our impregnable abode.”
