#596 Finding His Joy
My theme in this New Year continues to be from a focus that came up during the year, of ‘Finding Joy.’ “The joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10 So how can HIS Joy become our Joy? I have been blessed by asking What makes You smile? What brings You delight? What are Your greatest moments of Joy?
Here are words to a song that came on the basis of these meditations.
Teach me Your Song
Teach me Your Song—what makes You smile:
The First Light of Sunrise, a Heart without Guile;
The Roots of the Redwoods, tenaciously deep;
The Roots of a True Faith supportive in reach.
The First Sprout of Green after long winter’s siege;
Tenacious Spring’s Promise of Life we believe;
The way of a child, full of joy in the rain,
The Heart the finds Treasure and Love despite pain.
Teach me Your Song—what brings You delight:
The Child who Loves Singing a Song in the Night;
The Masterpiece Sunset all brilliant in hue;
The Faithful Intention in all that you do;
The Oceans and Rivers Cascading in Power;
The Life and the Strength in our reach every hour;
The Eagles that Soar through the air, wild and free;
The Faith that Brings Sight beyond what we can see.
Teach me Your Song, what brings joy to Your heart:
Fulfilling Your Promise, Pursuing Your Part;
The moment You smiled on Your Son in the Grave
Rewarding the depth of the Life that he gave;
The Joy in the Moment when each one will know
This Depth of Love far beyond pain’s overflow;
The Joy of the Healing and Divine embrace;
The joy of Receiving, the Joy on Each Face;
The Joy in the Moment we each Learn to Give
In love with Your Love as You teach us to Live.
As we meditate on what gives Him joy, we can make His joy our own.
The LORD bless your new year with His joy in our hearts, displacing negativity and sadness.
