#584 His Glory: Permission to Prune
1 John 15:1-2 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit, he takes away (#142 to lift up—possible reference to part of the pruning process of raising the branch from the ground and washing it off) and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it, that I may bear more fruit.”
The whole pruning process is the LORD’s way of separating us from the thoughts and things in our life we are attached to, that are really in our way, so that we can grow, unhindered by them.
We must not let the Adversary blind us by distracting us to focus on the problem and the pain so that we do not see the Faithful Hand of the Husbandman pruning with skill and dexterity so that abundance of fruitage will result.
O Lord may we trust and rejoice in this letting go to what we are attached to!
“By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit…” John 5:8
O LORD, prune me, taking away whatever You know is Best, whatever will result in growth and fruitage, which is to Your Glory.
