#523 His Leading through the Valley Psalm 23:4
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil; for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4
The challenge of a dark valley experience that seems to threaten our life is an opportunity for the Shepherd to exercise His skills and to reveal His deep love for us.
He has promised to provide for all our needs. Philippians 4:19
Psalm 23:3 states that he guides us in the paths of righteousness.
We may need to remind ourselves that the dark valley is part of the path that leads us to righteousness.
The dark valley is not a mistake, it is part of the all things, that are working together for our good. Romans 8:28
In times of extremity and challenge we may need to remind ourselves to take comfort in the lesson through the rod and the guidance through the staff.
The rod of correction and the staff of guidance is wielded in Great Love! Hebrews 12:6-7
“God will lead me in the path of righteousness even though through the darkest and most gloomy vale…
It is still the right path;
It is a path of safety;
It will conduct me to bright regions beyond.
In that dark and gloomy valley, though I could not guide myself,
I will not be alarmed.
I will not be afraid of wandering or being lost;
I will not fear any enemies there—for my Shepherd is there to guide me still.” Barnes
“So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart,
and guided them with his skillful hands.” Psalm 78:72
