#579 His Perspective from the Heights, Borne on the Wings of the Eagle
And I said, ‘Oh that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest….
I would hasten to my place of refuge from the stormy wind and tempest. Psalm 55:6,8
“They that wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles…”Isaiah 40:31
WE HAVE been given the wings of an eagle, to rise above the fears and cares of this world, to rise above our own human thinking and reasoning.
From the heights of His promises all looks different:
Psalm 144:1-2 Praise be to the LORD, my Rock and Refuge;
Who trains my hands for war—for hostile encounters with sin,
and my fingers for battle.
We are not helpless— He equips us
My lovingkindness--
We are not alone—He commits His Checed Covenant love and affection
in our spiritual warfare
My fortress--
We do not stand alone in our vulnerability—He protects us
My lofty refuge inaccessible to the enemy
His ability to keep us safe in Him surpasses any scheme of the Adversary
My deliverer
He is our means of ‘escape’ to get through the circumstance with spiritual growth
My shield and He In whom I run for refuge
He is our buckler and protection in hand to hand combat, our source of triumph over challenges
O LORD, empower us to use the wings of the Promises You have given us, to ask You to lead us to the Promise to claim so that we can rise above our Storm…and see from Your High Perspective of Truth.
“We are resting in the Lord's promises—we are resting in His strength and in His ability to make good His promises; for we know that He who has called us is able to fulfil all His good Word.” R. 5432
