#452 His Word that Sustains us in Times of Weariness Part 2
“The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of disciples, that I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word. He awakens me morning by morning, He awakens my ear to listen as a disciple.
The Lord GOD has opened my ear; and I was not disobedient, nor did I turn back.” Isaiah 50:4-5
Below is another paraphrase of Scripture, in answer to the question, ‘What message did Jesus want me to receive from these words?’ This paraphrase is a testimony to what these words mean to me personally. For we can still hear his words speak to our times of weariness, and we still feel their sustaining power:
I long for your connection to me as the Vine, and I long for your trust in the wisdom of my Father as the one who cares for the Vine.
You can trust when He prunes and cuts away things so much a part of your life.
The result is that you will bear more fruit. John 15:1
Stay connected, abide, be in close fellowship with me.
This is the only way to grow in the spirit.
John 15:4-5
In this continual fellowship and connection with me, choose my thoughts to dwell in you so that your desires reflect my own and so what you ask in prayer is answered.
I want you to experience the joy of desiring what I desire.
This is part of the process of bearing fruit to the glory of my Father. John 15:7-8
Abide and dwell in my love, and be a reflection of my love and the committed love of my Father.
This is my joy.
I speak these things to you because I want you to experience my joy, and I want this joy in you to overflow. John 15:7-11
