#457 His Word that Sustains us in Times of Weariness Part 7
“When Jesus had spoken these words,
he went forth with his disciples over the ravine of the Kidron,
where there was a garden…” John 18:1
Jesus knew he would face the Gethsemane experience,
and then the power of darkness behind his arrest,
the hypocritical tribunals, mocking, physical abuse that would last through the night,
and finally his scourging and crucifixion.
And in the midst of this severe hour of turmoil and testing,
he sustained those who followed him with his words.
He did not hold back. Isaiah 50:4-5
Jesus words were such an act of the depths of his love for each of us.
He still sustains us with these words.
And from this we learn the power of seeking moment by moment,
awakened in our hearts to listen to our Heavenly Father,
awakened to listen as one who is teachable and eager to hear
and learn for the encouragement of those who are weary,
even in the hour of our own tempest and challenge.
“The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of disciples,
that I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word.
He awakens me morning by morning,
He awakens my ear to listen as a disciple.
The Lord GOD has opened my ear;
and I was not disobedient, nor did I turn back.” Isaiah 50:4-5
