#695 Humble Yourself Under the Mighty Hand of God
Amid the unsettling events in our world and the challenges in life it really helps me to humble myself under the mighty hand of God, to continually bring my mind back to this privilege. 1 Peter 5:6
“Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God”: I remind myself over and over to See HIM as Big and Mighty and Powerful, and Full of Love, and see every experience as overruled by His Greater Grace. We are UNDER—protected and submissive to—this Greater Grace and Power. He is Bigger than any of the events in this year, and Bigger than any challenge we may face!
“And he will exalt you in due time:” His intention for us to humble ourselves under His Greater Grace and Power is to bring spiritual victory and exaltation out of each experience, leading to Final Spiritual Victory and reward. Humility and Awe are the appropriate responses when we are aware of His Mighty exercise of power and grace in every experience, and this attitude is a key element of spiritual victory and growth. You are Mightily at work, Lord. We trust the exercise of your Mighty power.
“Casting all your care upon Him for he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 Notice the similarity of Psalm 55.22 to 1 Peter 5:7, 6 “Cast your cares on the Lord [casting all your care upon Him] and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.” [and He will exalt you in due time.]
He is certainly Mighty enough to deal in the best way with whatever our concern or fear may be. Again His intention is to bring spiritual victory and exaltation out of each challenge.
Making the effort to cast or to take the spiritual and emotional energy to THROW all our cares upon Him is one of the ways we humble ourselves under His Mighty Power.
FOR he cares for you: He LOVES us deeply, and therefore wants what is best for us, and again He is setting the stage for the exaltation of spiritual victory, growth and reward.
We can trust His Mighty Hand:
“Sometimes the Lord's hand is very heavy. It was in the case of our Lord Jesus, heavy, pressed down. But when the Lord felt the Father's hand pressing down, He meekly bowed Himself beneath the weight, in humble acquiescence to the will of the One whose purpose He had come to carry out. But the Hand did not crush Him, although it seemed to do so. Instead of being a crushing, it was the Hand of Love, testing His obedience to the full. When His obedience was fully tested, the same Hand lifted Him up and ‘set Him at His own right hand....’ “ Ephesians 1:20-23. R 5844
