#557 “My Peace” Amid the Storm” Part 1
The LORD has drawn my heart to continue meditating on the lesson of the Storm , when Peter walked on the water toward the Lord of his life. Matt 14.24-32 As I become aware of the challenges in the lives of my precious Brethren, and as I am led through various challenges with people and unknown outcomes, this lesson really pierces my heart and sanctified imagination.
It’s dark. The winds and waves are raging. Your boat is tossed.
You cling to the sides of your little boat, the wind and the drizzle spray of water on your face.
You see Jesus standing on those waters, stable and calm.
You see his radiant face, and the penetrating gaze of Love (Like Father, like Son!) as he watches you.
You hear his voice. “Come closer to me.”
His eyes are fixed on you, with the greatest of love and confidence.
He knows that no wave or wind in any storm of circumstance
can wrest you from his power or his reach.
You heed his voice and leave the boat of your security to come closer.
All your attention is fixed on him, and the roar of the storm seems like a dull hum in this moment.
And you realize:
This is the relationship I have been called to. 1 John 3:1-3
And this Holy Relationship provides the resources to approach any challenge.
Philippians 4.19; Romans 8:31,32; 37-39
Whether he chooses to calm the literal storm or not, he will calm the storm in my heart.
And he will call me closer to himself.
May we open our hearts to receive “my peace,” John 14:27, the peace of God that Jesus demonstrated to us in such extremity of circumstance and testing, a conviction past and beyond all emotion, a conviction that KNOWS They are with us and gives us the stability and strength to go forward.
