#558 “My Peace” Amid the Storm” Part 2
We see the peace of God to an extent never before seen or demonstrated, as Jesus faced extremity of adversity and challenge (which Jesus calls “my peace”) throughout his ministry, and especially in his last days. Then in glory he continues to impart peace as he uses all power in heaven and earth on our behalf and works with the Father in the exercise of the Holy spirit’s power to bring all these things to our remembrance. Matthew 28:18; John 14:26
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.” John 14:27
“You heard that I said to you, ‘I go away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I go to the Father; for the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you before it comes to pass, that when it comes to pass, you may believe.” John 14:28-29
“I go away:” He was speaking of his eminent suffering and death. But that is only part of the statement. He also spoke in confidence—knowing his death and resurrection would make the Holy spirit’s power available to his followers, and knowing that His Father is greater than he, able to resurrect him to the right hand of the Father. He knew that the final outcome accomplished through the power of the Father was incomparable joy to be in the presence of His Father in heaven.
His peace came from faith’s conviction and focus which reached beyond the suffering to the outcome of Glory and Blessing.
His peace inspires us to receive his peace as we make sure we finish the Divine statement of our experience.
“Be thou faithful unto death…
And I will give thee a crown of life.” Revelation 2:10
