#561 “My Peace” Amid the Storm” Part 5
“These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
He shared these thoughts so that we could have HIS peace, the peace of God amid the extremity of sacrificial challenge. We can take courage amid the tribulation and pressure of the world because he had overcome to this point and he would ultimately be victorious over this present order of sin and death.
“These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace.”
His peace also came from the conviction and focus on giving the followers he loved the perspective of his triumph over the darkness of the world.
“Behold, an hour is coming, and has already come, for you to be scattered, each to his own home, and to leave me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.” John 14:32
He knew that he would soon be abandoned by his precious disciples. But again he finished the Divine statement: Yet I am not alone because the Father is with me.
This was peace amid betrayal and the abandonment of no Brotherly earthly support, a peace that ruled his heart because his conviction and focus was on the faithful presence of His Heavenly Father.
We can have his peace amid feelings of rejection and aloneness when faith’s conviction and focus is on Their Faithful presence with us.
We may experience rejection, yet we are not alone, because the Father and the Son are with us.
“I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 “ ‘I will never let go of your hand: I will never forsake you,’ (Weymouth) so that we confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What shall man do to me?” NASB Hebrews 13:5-6
“Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you….And the LORD is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear, or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:6-8
