#522 Living Deep-rooted Attachment in Christ
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” Colossians 2.6-7
In the midst of feeling alone and disconnected from some of my Brethren in some experiences the LORD gave me direction and encouragement through these verses.
Paraphrase: Live your life in or through Christ Jesus in the same way you became close and intimate with Christ, with that tenacious first love.
Rooted and built up: Continue to be rooted—stabilized and growing through him in established, strong and steadfast faith, abounding with gratitude.
The phrase ‘abounding with gratitude’ led to a prayer:
Rooted: Thank You so much LORD for the security of our relationship with You through Jesus—Jesus having experienced human life as a new creature in total faithfulness—the living demonstration of Your love.
Built up: Thank You so much for empowering me to grow, to not give up, to let Your love love through me. Romans 5:5
Strengthened in the faith: Thank You so much for a faith structure that is strong and tenacious against emotional storm and draught, that regardless of the storm or perceived failure always runs to you and never gives up.
And what a privilege to pray this prayer on behalf of our relationships in Christ!
Thank You so much Lord, for this deep-rooted attachment we have toward our Lord Jesus and his love and life and example.
May we love one another with the same deep rooted-agape attachment.
The way to not feel alone or like an outsider to is to find a way to connect. We are already connected as part of the same body. But we need to live connected, each part of the body doing the work it was made to do. Ephesians 4:16 As each part of the body does its work, it thereby builds itself up in love.
That connection can be any way of reaching out to one another as we are led by Him. Romans 12:4-8 And then the challenge for me is to look at whatever I was led to do—prayer, a phone call, an email, a visit, etc, through HIS eyes, and not my own. This includes the realization that every part of the body has its own contribution: No fair comparing ourselves to others to minimize or maximize our part or the part another contributes! Romans 12:3; 1 Corinthians 12:12-20 Every act of obedience and love is a joy to Him! John 15:8-11
Teach us to live this deep-rooted attachment that we have toward our Lord Jesus and his love. And teach us to love one another with the same deep-rooted agape attachment.
