Loving New--part 2

#300 Loving New Part 2
Another dear Sister shared her experience with me. Her son had a stroke last March and isn’t doing well now that he is home. She is grappling with: How does a Mom let go of the pain and fear for his well-being. Are we to stop our feeling - let go of the pain and just trust GOD? Just how do I "surrender our closest relationships and attachments and HOW to love those we care so deeply about with the love of God and Christ"?
Part of the answer is to pray for the answer, and be in awe of Who He Is.
When Job asked WHY God answered with WHO. Part of the answer may be to let go of our strong desire to understand the why, and to hold on to TRUSTING Him.
Are we to stop our feeling?
We do not want to become ‘calloused’ or “past feeling” as described in Ephesians 4:18-20. Jesus never stopped feeling. John 11:35, Matthew9:36; Isaiah 53:4
We desire to have our thoughts and the emotions that come from those thoughts be sanctified, made holy by the power of God and Christ. How do we do this?
How do we let go of pain and trust God?
*It helps me to be clear about what thoughts are creating the feelings.
*We need to feel our feelings and express our feelings and the thoughts behind them BEFORE HIM. Not isolated and alone, but knowing that He hears and understands.
“Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.” Psalm 62:8
*We need to let the LORD disarm the strong-hold of our faulty perception with HIS TRUTH and Perspective. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5. As we consciously bring our thoughts and the emotions they produce into the presence of His Pure Love our thoughts and feelings can be transformed. I realize that I can fall into the trap of dwelling on a sad or fearful thought without including God in the equation. Instead of saying to myself, “I’m afraid of the tests result,” we can include God. “I’m nervous about the results of these tests, AND I know that God knows and is able to use all things for Highest Good in His time and way.” This is being honest BEFORE GOD. Fear is expectation with out God. Faith and Hope is expectation WITH God.
*We need to trust in His process of sanctification. 1 Peter 5:8-9,10 (Our suffering and experience with challenge IS for the “little while” of our short lifetime.)
*Intense emotions come from our intense perceptions, and some of these strong perceptions and habits of thought are rooted in childhood experience that we experienced in a very intense way.
We develop a HABIT of intense perception and the result is a HABIT of intense emotion and that can result in behavior that is destructive. Ephesians 4:21-24, 25-32
We need to trust that emptying our feelings and the thoughts behind the feelings BEFORE HIM is a process.
We can get to the point of not being driven by fear or despair as He empowers us to put Faith in the driver’s seat.
Psalm 56:3-4!
This leads me to review the lessons the Lord brought to mind a while ago. (#275 Triumph of Trust)
It is humbling to bring our thoughts into His presence, under the scrutiny of Pure Love, where sin, anything that hurts the Highest Eternal Good must be transformed.
May we bring every fear and desire and outcome that we are attached to into the presence of His Pure Love. Psalm 139:23-24
Psalm 62:8 “Trust in him at all time, ye people, pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.” There are no exceptions. There is no person or circumstance that is outside the realm of His protecting Power for Highest Good.
These verses and thoughts lead me to declare, throughout a day of sudden challenges:
I know You are with me. I am confident that whatever the outcome, it is blessed and necessary for Highest Good and growth.
Should one of the things I fear the most happen, He will use it for healing in His time and way.
“You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.” Psalm 18:28-29 NIV When we bring our thoughts—our fears, our stories, our attachments into the presence of His Pure Love we are empowered SEE the light of His truth and to put on His strength. Our thoughts are made new, from darkness to light. Romans 12:2 We will have His strength to run through every troop—every multitude of repeated experience and every time we face many challenges at once and itappears that we are alone with no agreement or support from others. We will have the strength to leap over a wall, however formidable the obstacle may be.
