Loving New

#299 Loving New
A dear friend and sister in Christ emailed me in response to the thoughts about Luke 9:59-62 and Jesus calling us to a paradigm shift in regard to our relationships:
I am struggling letting go of the great fear I have of my son’s epilepsy and seizures that terrify me, so thank you. I know our Father is trustworthy, but I have to be able to truly put Him in front of my mothers instinct to protect at all costs....when really the Lord has the best protective instincts.
The message to us is that even our strongest ideas and impressions need to be surrendered to His truth. Even the ties and pulls of our closest relationships must be surrendered to our relationship with Him. Respect for human relationship alone does not determine the actions we take. Respect for human relationships in the light of the will of God in Christ is the issue. He is Lord of all—Lord of every facet of our lives and Lord of every relationship.
Her comments led me to apply this principle to some close relationships I had overlooked.
We have such attachments to our perception of how to love, and how to protect those we love.
We love, and then we fear for the well being of the ones we love. My prayer is that the Lord would sanctify my fear. To make our fear HOLY is to transform our fear of consequences and outcomes to FEAR and REVERENCE for HIM and HIS eternal, far-reaching wisdom. “In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence, and his children will have refuge.” Proverbs 14:26 “…live in the fear of the LORD always. Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.” Proverbs 23:17-18
My Mother’s heart is praying with her Mother’s heart for surrender of our closest relationships and attachments and HOW to love those we care so deeply about with the love of God and Christ.
Lord, renew my mind. Romans 12:2 2 Corinthians 5:14-17
Lord teach me to love NEW, with your love.
