#357 Making Room To be Filled Heb 12.1-2 Part 2
Be in awe of the space He creates—that Holy space which leads us to let go of our old perceptions—that Holy space that gives Him room to fill us with all the fullness of God, open to receive His Holy Possibilities. Ephesians 3:16-21
“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2 NASB
It is the example of the living faith of the faithful ones of the Old Testament, revealed to our hearts and minds through the Holy spirit that inspires us to let go of every encumbrance. (They also laid aside the Appearance and held onto the Reality by Faith.) It is the example of our Beloved Savior, revealed to our hearts and minds through the Holy spirit, that inspires us to ‘put away’ the ‘weight’ [or ‘burden’ Strong’s #3591] of the ‘easily-surrounding sin.’ Hebrews 12:1 Greek Interlinear We fix our gaze upon this Savior who let go of the shame and held onto the joy, and we are strengthened to never give up in this letting go process.
Letting go empowered by the Holy spirit is such a beautiful and holy endeavor!
A dear Sister shared her favorite poem along these lines:
Sacred Space
God, create a space in me,
With vision that is clear.
Hollow out a sacred spot,
Where hope replaces fear.
Shed the clutter that I wear,
I beg you, sweep it clean.
Strip the layers of my doubt,
Unravel every seam.
Touch me at my deepest core,
Flush out every vein.
Scrape away my willful pride,
Wash away my shame.
Open every cell of life,
Cleanse each old belief,
That keeps me from your presence,
And covered up with grief.
Then, take my naked spirit,
And wrap me in your grace.
Breathe your life into my heart,
Create in me a sacred space.
That I may go into the world,
Where darkness seems to reign,
Holding always to my source,
Spreading light instead of pain.
