#442 My Dad My Road Sign
Saturday was the anniversary of my Dad’s Triumph two years ago.
I miss him, and I am eternally grateful for who he was as my Dad and my Brother in Christ.
He was a precious Road Sign in my life.
(#333 Road Sign Revisited)
“Set up road signs: put up guideposts. Take note of the highway, (set thy heart toward the highway ASV) the road that you take. Return, Virgin Israel, return to your towns.” Jeremiah 31:21 NIV
God overruled that Israel would be provided with the inspiration and guidance to return to her land after the Babylonian captivity, and back to their land in prophetic fulfillment in our own day. The LORD also provides road signs for us, in various ways, that guide and direct us in our spiritual journey.
Sometimes there are people in our lives who just are. They live in a quiet, directed and disciplined way doing those things that they are committed to with such apparent ease and grace that they are often overlooked.
My dad was one of those people who just are—one of those people who in actuality, represent road signs for the rest of us because of their steady, quiet, disciplined focus. They are our road signs because they have learned through their own experiences simply how to be, how to always move forward and how to know where home is. Their character over years of testing have been set firmly in the concrete foundation of faith and the message that they hold out for all to see is a message of true hope, true direction and true instruction for their message is from the hand of God thru His written Word.
Notice those around you who are the road signs in life. They will not disappoint you if you read their message and follow their direction, and who knows, maybe one day you and I can become the road signs for those around us…Rick Suraci
Here are the words to a song I wrote in honor of my Dad
and all those who have been our Road Signs from God.
On Life’s road in the storms confusion, lost and searching the way to go.
Love of God giving us a road sign, Love of God on the winding road.
Beautiful is the heart that seeks Him, seeks Him, faithful through darkest night.
Beautiful is the heart that reaches, Looking up, guided by His light.
“Love of God behind and before me. Blessing of God surely lies ahead.”
Love of God shining from reflection, strengthened by what His road sign said.
“Keep looking up, it is God who loves you. He can help you through what may come;
always, always cares for His children. Beautiful is the love of God.”
Chorus
Beautiful is the Love of God.
Beautiful are the ones who reflect His
Love to us on this winding road
Beautiful is the love of God.
