#559 “My Peace” Amid the Storm” Part 3
“I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in me.” John 14:30 Though the Prince of this world was “coming” with the result of his arrest, though the Accuser was ready to condemn and vilify, he knew “he has nothing in me”—he knew these charges would not define him; and he knew that the Prince of this world had no power over him. Jesus was doing all things according to his choice to surrender to the will of the Father.
“I gave my back to those who strike me, and my cheeks to those who pluck out the beard; I did not cover my face from humiliation and spitting. For the Lord God helps me, therefore, I am not disgraced; therefore I have set my face like flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed. He who vindicated me is near; who will contend with me? Let us stand up to each other; Who has a case against me? Let him draw near to me.” Isaiah 50:6-8
Despite the accusations and abuse from others, his peace came from faith’s conviction and focus on his true identity as the Son of God, Jesus Christ: the Anointed One who would deliver all people from their sins.
When we hold onto a similar truth amid the Accuser and the misunderstandings and sometimes accusations of people in our lives we will have peace . “Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us that we should be called sons of God.” 1 John 3: 1 “Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is he who died, yes rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us…But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through him who loved us.” Romans 8:32-34,37
