#493 Numbering our Days
Many of us face at one time or another, have faced the possibility of dealing with a life threatening condition. I am faced with this possibility, and things look very good and optimistic at this point, and I wait for further results of some tests.
My desire has been to completely trust Him whatever He pours into my Cup. I am not over concerned, but very impacted by lessons that come from experiences that draw our attention to our ‘mortality.’
The LORD gave me 1 Chronicles 28:20, and I was so blessed.
“David also said to Solomon his son, ‘Be strong and courageous, and do the work.
Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.”
Parpahrase: Be strong and hold on tightly and don’t let go; be alert in courage to see all the encouragements along the way; “Do the work” NIV; Do not be frightened or broken down by confusion or fear, for Jehovah, the One who keeps His Covenant promises, the Mighty One, …will not fail, slacken or let go of His grip upon His commitment to you; He will not forsake—loosen his hold on you and His promise, so that you will complete all the work for the service of the Temple of the LORD.
The purpose of our lives is to glorify Him (Isaiah 43:7) and live out the mission He has given to us.
This provides a wake-up call for me. I am so inspired by the promise that He is committed to our part of the Temple Work being completed.
Our lives are so directed, even to the amount of time we need here on this side.
This leads me to ask, am I fulfilling Your Mission for my life?
He remains committed to the completion of the work He has given us to do, the Temple Work in ourselves, and the Temple Work on behalf of others. Philippians 1:6
The length or shortness of life is in His hand; we are assured that He is protecting our life not according to our plan, but according to HIS. Nothing can shorten our lives unless He permits it.
It leads me to make sure I understand What is the Temple Work that He has given me to do?
How can the Temple work be done with more faithfulness?
Am I missing anything in the Temple work He has given me on behalf of those closest to me?
What is the Temple Work to be done with the people in my life that are the most challenging to deal with?
None of us knows how long we have on the side of the veil. There is such a valuable lesson in this for me: Psalm 90:12 “Teach us to number our days that we might apply our hearts to wisdom.”
Focus not on the length of days, but on the amazing walk we have with Them, and the quality of and the blessing in the “Temple Work” during whatever days are before us!
