#411 Our Choice at the Break of Day
Cause me to hear (intelligently, with attention and obedience) Your Unfailing Love at the break of the day, for I trust in Thee. Psalm 143:8a (paraphrased) I want to hear and recognize Your Unfailing Love because I trust in You and I trust in that Love.
May my ‘break-of-day- thought,’ my earliest thought be: I trust the depths of Your Unfailing Love. This trust in His Unfailing Love is part of the ‘for all His benefits toward me’of the Morning Resolve: “My earliest thought I desire shall be, what shall I render unto the LORD for all His benefits toward me.”
I trust Your Unfailing Love for me; what then shall I give out of gratitude to Thee?
‘Cause me to know (by seeing, observation, instruction) the road that I should walk on, for I lift up my soul to Thee.’ Psalm 143:8b (paraphrased)
I want to choose the path you have chosen for me, and so I extend my attention and energy to reach out to You for direction and strength.
"We change from being victim to victor by acceptance and non-resistance to the experiences the Lord allows for us. The difficulty is still there, but it has changed from something to suffer, to something to offer. We trust to the very core of our being in His loving perfect will, whatever that might be... May we be more and more saturated with the Heavenly things… Meek submission sanctifies suffering. Be sure that your silent willing endurance is a true act of adoration. Thus weariness, pain, loneliness, etc. will carry on His gracious work in us, turning suffering into incense of submission and trust." [Unknown] (Shared by Sister Rosalie’s preface to Manna articles.)
Our first choice is to trust His Unfailing Love. When we trust His love we are filled with gratitude. In response we give Him our wills: our choice to choose what He has chosen.
This choice to choose our present challenges and blessings, whatever they require, is a stand of Divine triumph and power. We no longer resist and what is required becomes our free-will gift.
We absolutely know that we can trust His Choices, and we delight to do His will.
“I will take the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the Lord [for grace to help].
I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all His people.” Psalm 116:13-14
