Out of the Seven Churches in Revelation, which would you say is the closet to your church?
Answer:
The 7 churches in Revelation are a pictograph of Church history. Ephesus describes the early Church in the days of the Apostles, where we see that they quickly lost their first love, till they let the anti-typical Jezebel (Apostasy) take control, and they say they are Jews (not literal Jews, but as Christians we inherit the spiritual promises of Abraham and become his seed--
Rom 2:28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
Till we come to the condition of the church today--Laodicea.
Lukewarm--indifferent on morals and a lot of stuff
Rich and in need of nothing--Think we have it all--we are SAVED!
Poor--not laying up treasures in heaven.
Blind--can't see afar off--not interested in End Time Prophecy enough--we are go about our everyday life like that is all there is.
Miserable and Naked---not covered by the robe of Christ's righteousness--kind of like the guy in the wedding parable.---these are the ones who come to Jesus and he says, "I know you not, depart from me."
The condition is salvageable, but is up to the individual.
I think all churches or fellowships are Laodicean to one degree or another. It is our individual responsibility to make sure we buy of the Lord eye salve and keep our robe on and free of spots. Our fellowship/church is not what will get us to hear "Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joys of the Lord." It is our diligently seeking Him and studying to show ourselves approved and working out our own salvation with fear and trembling that will be rewarded.
