#623 Paul’s focus in Prison: Part 4 Guarded!
“Don’t worry over anything whatever; tell God every detail of your needs in earnest and thankful prayer, and the peace of God, which transcends human understanding, will keep constant guard over your hearts and minds as they rest in Christ Jesus…” Philippians 4:6 The word guard is Strong’s #5432: to protect by guarding; Thayer: to guard, protect by a military guard, either to prevent hostile invasion, or to keep the inhabitants of a besieged city from flight. Paul was constantly guarded in prison. But more importantly he was constantly guarded by the peace of God, the result of honest pouring out of the heart in earnest thankful prayer, thankful because of confidence in His Highest and Best answer to every prayer. Teach us Lord, to fully surrender to the guarding power of Your peace through earnest and thankful prayer.
Psalm 62:5-8
“My soul, wait in silence for God only,
for my hope is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation,
stronghold; I shall not be shaken.
On God my salvation and my glory rest;
The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.
Trust in Him at all times, O people;
Pour out your heart before Him;
(Tell God every detail of your needs)
God is a refuge for us.
(and the peace of God will keep constant guard over your hearts and minds as they rest in Christ Jesus.)
