#672 Pliability and Surrender Part 2 In the Care of the Shepherd
What a blessing and how timely to my frame of mind to meditate again on pliability—the surrender that comes from continual ‘yes’ to each step of His will, knowing that He is leading to the fullest blessedness. This is the lesson of the Potter and the Clay, as well as in the Shepherd and the Sheep.
This though and this quote was also shared:
“What a relief to not have to run the show! When we humble ourselves, we glorify Him, and bless ourselves.”
“The true sheep will carefully listen for the faintest accents of the voice of the Shepherd--i.e.,
he will treasure up his words in his heart; he will study his providences;
and he will cultivate that communion and personal fellowship with the Lord which are his privilege.
Those who thus abide in him can never go astray.

Imagine a little sheep ‘taking the reins’ and deciding to follow the path of personal choosing…
a recipe for Disaster!
We see this spirit of pliability and surrender in Jesus also, as a sheep of Jehovah.
Isaiah 53:6-8 English Standard Version (ESV)
All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted yet he opened not his mouth;
like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent,
so he opened not his mouth.
By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who considered
that he was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people?”
These verses in Isaiah display a contrast:
As sheep we as members of this fallen race have gone astray and turned according to our own way.
But Jesus, also pictured as a sheep, did NOT turn according to his own way.
He trusted the Great Shepherd Jehovah and surrendered to HIS will even when it meant his own ‘shearing’ experience of shame, even to the death of the cross.
And the result of this surrender is the Greatest Blessing imaginable! Philippians 2:8-11
O LORD, we pray for the pliability of surrender and open-mindedness to Your truth and leading, inspired by the example of our Lord Jesus, leading to the Greatest Blessing imaginable!
