Psalm 96--Another Look
I was going to do a study on Psalm 98 and saw the link to 96. So I did a study on and when I went to post it, I see that I already did a study on 96. There will be some overlap, but some other thoughts have come out on this study that you might find interesting.
Psalm 96
Psa 96:1 O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth.
The “new song” is for the new day. So what is this new day?
The Prophet Isaiah gives us a clue in his End Times prophecy of chapter 21.
Isa 21:11 The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?
Isa 21:12 The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will enquire, enquire ye: return, come.
The watchman (those looking into prophecy) is asked what of the night (the Great Tribulation)? He answers by saying “The morning cometh, and also the night.”
He starts by giving hope of the Kingdom (for which all Christians pray but sadly don’t understand). There are two parts of the Kingdom promise, and to be kings and priests in that Kingdom is the promise to the faithful Christian. It is that promise to be with our Lord that should spur us on to either escape the Great Tribulation by being of the Bride class or to wash our robes in the Great Tribulation if we are of the Great Multitude group.
We see in Revelation that it is the Bride of Christ who sings the new song of Moses and the Lamb, but this prophecy in Psalms is for the world. The world will also rejoice in the Lord when God stops the Great Tribulation lest no flesh be saved (Matt. 24:22; Mark 13:20).
The “new song” will be sung after Ezekiel’s Temple is built.
There is so much in scripture to describe all that I have stated so far. God has given us all this detail, but sadly many Christians are not aware of it. Even sadder is those who have no use for the Old Testament. The Old Testament has so much in End Times information, especially for what will happen with the world and natural Israel. It contains just as much information for the earthly phase of the Kingdom for which we pray. This and the next few chapters is just a small sample of the promises for the world in the Kingdom.
Psa 96:2 Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day.
Once God stops the Great Tribulation, especially Jacob’s Trouble (Jer. 30, Zech 12, 14, Eze. 38,39) which is the end of the Great Tribulation when He stands up for the children of His people (Dan 12:1; Zech 12:8; Obed 1:21), He will draw all people to Him.
Isa 60:1-5 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. 2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. 3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. 4 Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side. 5 Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.
Psa 96:3 Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people.
Once the Kingdom on earth begins in Jerusalem. Those who survive of the hosts of Gog will return to their nations and tell the people the miracles they witnessed on behalf of the Holy Remnant of Israel. How the earth opened up and swallowed much of the host. How death took a holiday. Then there is the resurrection of the Ancient Faithful (Heb. 11) who were the fathers to the Jewish nation, but now are children of the Second Adam (Jesus and his Bride) and are made princes in all the earth. That is the will be the visible ruling power on the earth under the spiritual (Jesus and his Bride—who will reign as Kings and Priests).
Psa 45:16 Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth.
God has been silent to the world during this age of faith, the Gospel Age, but the Kingdom Age things will be different. God will fight for Israel as in days of old—that is with great miracles and this is the inauguration of the Kingdom age. Things will be very different, Jesus will rule with a rod of iron and when God’s laws are in the earth—the people will listen.—Psalm 2:9; Rev. 2:27; 12:5; 19:15
Isa_26:9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.
Psa 96:4 For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.
Psa 96:5 For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.
Men go crazy for their gods, which aren’t gods. But for some reason man has a hard time loving and appreciating the real God. Perhaps it is because of the doctrines of demons that Christianity spouts off about Him. They misrepresent His goodness, His mercy, and His love.
When the Truth comes out, when the world is in the Kingdom, they will learn all that God has done and how he isn’t a god of hate or torment. God is love and justice is the foundation of His throne. His plan for man will be shown in its true light.
There is a song that I recently heard that goes, “Then all the people said, Amen!” Certainly once they understand God’s plan and all that He has done, they will praise Him and throw away their gods because they will realize the lie that they have been living in the past.
The purpose of the Kingdom is for Jesus and the Bride to bring mankind back into harmony with God. That is their job as priests of the most high.
They will be successful. But not everyone will bow the knee, and they will be cut off. Their leaven will not be allowed to leaven the rest of the world anymore.—Deut 18:15; Acts 7:37
Act 3:22-23 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. 23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Hab 2:14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
Psa 96:6 Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
Psa 96:7 Give unto the LORD, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
“beauty are in his sanctuary” this has a twofold application. God’s sanctuary is the Bride of Christ which is likened to the temple.
1Co_3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
1Co_6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
The world will recognize those whom they didn’t while they were on earth. Those who will be of the Bride of Christ were not appreciated in this life. They were hated like their master was and looked at as foolish. When those who despised God’s little ones come back in the resurrection, they will understand and praise God’s choice in those who are of the Bride.
The world will come to realize these things through the earthly temple—the one described in the book of Ezekiel which has never been built, but will in the Kingdom. That temple is designed to educate the people. We are told that the Law was a schoolmaster to bring Israel to Christ—it failed because of the traditions of man that were added to it. The New Law covenant which God makes with Israel and all those who come to Him through this channel will accomplish that mission. They will understand what all the sacrifices meant and why they were done the way they were. They will understand the significance of all these things and see the beauty of God’s plan and give Him the glory.
Psa 96:8 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts.
Psa 96:9 O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.
The coming to the courts again is a reference to the Third Temple (Ezekiel’s Temple). The people of the earth will come to the temple with offerings of praise and thanks to the Lord. Zechariah is also another witness to this time and describes those who choose not to come to worship the Lord.
Zec 14:16-19 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. 17 And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain. 18 And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. 19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Psa 96:10 Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously.
God does reign, through His son as He has committed all judgement to the son.
Act 17:31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
Psa 2:8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Joh 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
Psa 96:11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof.
Psa 96:12 Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice
When Adam fell, the Lord cursed the earth.
Gen 3:17-18 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; 18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
The earth will literally rejoice because this curse will be lifted in the Kingdom, when God’s will is done on the earth as it is done in heaven. We have always hear Isa. 35 as a description of the Kingdom and it also shows the earth rejoicing under the new arraignment.
Isa 35:1-2 The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. 2 It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God.
Isa 35:7 And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
I also think the earth will rejoice in another way. Man has been taken out of the equation. Man will no longer be able to rape, pillage and poison the land as we have been doing especially in these last days when all our food sources have been poisoned by pesticides, herbicides and GMOs. The animals will rejoice in that there is no more factory farming where animals live in abusive conditions their entire lives before winding up on our dinner plates.
There will be a lot of rejoicing in the Kingdom, sin will be stopped, and Satan bound and life will be as it was meant to be. For some it will be heaven on earth, for some who have fared well in this life it will be very constraining until they come to love God, Jesus, the Bride and their fellow man.
Psa 96:13 Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.
Today no one gets a fair trial. The palms of the judges are greased by the rich or powerful and so that the little guy is taken advantage of. We see property seized and people arrested or even killed for nothing. Just Google it and you will see all sorts of oppression which will only get worse as we approach the “night wherein no man can work” (John 9:4). That is: the Hour of Power of the Papal Beast, and then the Great Tribulation.
The Lord comes to judge the world---this judgement is not a sentencing, but a trial. Just as the Christians is on trial when we commit to Christ, so the world will be on trial for the Millennium. They will be under the tutelage of Jesus and his Bride, who will be Kings and Priests in all the earth. (Rev. 5:10,
