#413 Quieting the Noise So We Can Hear His Knock and Receive
Feasting in Place of Empty Snacking Rev 3:20
“Do not be deafened by the noise of the world or that of your own thinking…”
Sometimes the chatter in our head is deafening. Our opinions and perceptions are so loudly and strongly spoken and believed that it can be hard to hear the voice of our Shepherd. The challenge is to become quiet before God and Christ, and to be open to listen and to be led by their perspective. This is what it means to have a renewed mind.
“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” NIV Romans 12:2
Prove #1381 to test, prove, with the expectation of approving
His will is good: #18 agathos: describes that which, being good in its character or constitution is beneficial in its effect
His will is acceptable or pleasing: #2101 eurestos: well pleasing; fully agreeable
His will is perfect: #5046 telios: complete
Don’t be conformed to the standards of the world, but be renewed in mind to agree with God: to test and then to approve that His will is good, acceptable and perfect.
Instead of dwelling on what’s wrong, on what we don’t like, on our personal judgments and fears, the challenge of a renewed mind to test for and find what is beneficial, fully agreeable, and complete in our circumstance and His leading.
Our goal is to prove Him Holy: to see His intent to Bless; to prove our full acceptance of His choices in our lives; to prove that his will is not limited in its scope and effects, but complete in its far-seeing wisdom.
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20 This verse applies to our day, the Laodicean stage of the Church, and our privilege to be served ‘meat in due season.’ Matthew 24:45-47 Using the principle of this verse and applying it to our everyday life we can hear Jesus say: I am knocking at the door of your heart. Will you let me in? Will you let me serve you the ‘food at the proper time’ (NIV)— the Truth you need to see today, in this experience?
May we hear his knock and open the door of our hearts to him this day. May we let go of the ‘junk food’ of our old thinking, and accept the spiritual perspectives He has for us, far more nutritionally spiritually beneficial than our short-sighted judgments and fears. Psalm 62:8, 5
May we be willing to give up this ‘unhealthy snacking habit’ which undermines the renewal of our minds, and replace it with the perfect and powerful Divine Promises and Truth “so that through them you may participate in the divine nature”. 2 Peter 1:4 NIV
