Red Sea Rule #5

#317 Red Sea Rule #5
Stay calm and confident: Give God time to work
“But Moses said to the people, “Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the LORD which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever. The LORD will fight for you while you keep silent.” Exodus 14:13-14
At that moment in time when the people of Israel saw the armies of Egypt from a distance advancing toward them they could not imagine a scenario of protection and deliverance. There was nothing between them and the enemy and no way to flee forward and nowhere else to run.
They could not imagine that the pillar of the cloud and fire could protect them from behind. They could not imagine the rod of the LORD in Moses hand dividing the waters and thus making a way for them through the sea.
“The LORD will fight for you while you keep silent.”
Sometimes the most real thing to us is the fear we are afraid to face, and we forget the power of God. We also cannot imagine the creative deliverance of God but we can easily imagine foreboding What If’s. The chatterbox in our mind chatters on in fear, rehearsing possible or probable scenarios. When we quiet the chatter and claim Who God Is, the scenario changes. We still may not see how or when the deliverance will come, but we realize that He IS ABLE and WILLING in the best time and way.
Silence before God, emptying our mind of our own fears and preconceived and plans creates the space for God’s creative possibilities to work within us.
O LORD we pray for persistent faith to empty our mind of fear and fill our mind with Who You Are.
“Now to him who in the exercise of His power that is at work within us, is able to do infinitely beyond all our highest prayers or thoughts—to Him be the glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, world without end! Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21 Weymouth
“But as for me, I will watch expectantly for the LORD;
I will wait for the God of my salvation.
My God will hear me.” Micah 7:7
