Red Sea Rule #7

#319 Red Sea Rule #7
Envision God's enveloping presence.
“The angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them. And the pillar of cloud went from before them and stood behind them. So it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. Thus it was a cloud and darkness to the one, and it gave light by night to the other, so that the one did not come near the other all that night.” Exodus 14: 19‐20
The presence of the LORD and the way He leads us is fluid according to the need of the moment. Usually the pillar of cloud went in front of them to lead them. “And the LORD was going before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night.” This provision was constant. “He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.” Exodus 13:21-22
But at this point in time God’s people needed protection from behind. The angel of God and the manifestation of that angel’s power in the pillar of cloud, moved from the role of leading in front to the role of protection from behind.
God’s presence and provision for our leading and protection is wise. He is ready to deal with every ‘surprise’ attack from the Adversary.
When the blessings and provisions of the LORD suddenly change in our lives we need not fear that our needs are not being met, but rather that the need for provision has changed and He is adjusting His providence according to those needs. Philippians 4:19
“And the LORD is the one who goes ahead of you;
He will be with you.
He will not fail you or forsake you.
Do not fear, or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8
“But you will not go out in haste,
nor will you go as fugitives;
for the LORD will go before you,
and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.” Isaiah 52:12
