#580 Resting in His Provision Psalm 131
I have some unique opportunities to worry in regard to complicated people-challenges at work.
That means there are amazing and unique opportunities to TRUST!
Psalm 131 has been His Provision in the midst of these experiences.
“My heart is not haughty”—to be arrogantly superior—I will not think more of my ability than is appropriate;
“ nor mine eyes lofty”—I do not see with prideful assurance that my own ‘old thinking’--perceptions, reasonings and imaginations, are true and accurate; 2 Corinthians 10:5
“neither do I involve myself in great matters, or in things too difficult for me.” Psalm 131:1 NASB
I KNOW MY LIMITATIONS! I need Your guidance in every matter!
“Surely I have composed and quieted (to be dumb),my soul…”
This is a CHOICE to be calmed and quieted in my thinking so that I can listen;
“like a weaned child rests against his mother,
my soul is like a weaned child within me.” Psalm 131:2
A child in this phase of maturity knows by experience that all needs for nourishment and protection will be supplied.
I have learned that You Will Offer the Sustenance and Provision I need;
I lean on You for provision of my needs—for spiritual food, for direction and guidance, for what to do next.
You want me to rest in You.
You want me to feel your tender love and desire to protect me –
(the Mother’s cherishing desire toward her child)
You want me to fully lean on You and rest in You;
I lean against you LORD,
knowing YOU will fill every need in Your best and appropriate way.
“O Israel, hope—wait, be patient, in the LORD, the God who keeps His promises
From this time forth and forever.” Psalm 131:3
I will rest, leaning against You and Your promises, waiting and patient for Your Time and Way to fulfill and provide,
You can be trusted from this moment to eternity, in every experience.
I will Wait on You, in calmness and rest for the next step.
Faith Counts on Him
"Faith....though it never minimizes the difficulties, looks them steadily in the face, turns from them and looks into the face of God, and counts on him." R 4046 Thank you, Sister Betty!
