#712 Resurrection Power At Work
“At the moment when Christ died, nothing could have seemed more abjectly weak, more pitifully hopeless, more absolutely doomed to scorn, and extinction and despair, than the Church which he had founded. It numbered but a handful of weak followers, of which the boldest had denied his Lord with blasphemy, and the most devoted had forsaken him and fled. They were poor, they were ignorant, they were hopeless… How was it that these dull and ignorant men, with their cross of wood, triumphed over the deadly fascinations of sensual mythologies, conquered kings and their armies and overcame the world? What was it that thus caused strength to be made perfect out of abject weakness? There is one, and one only possible answer—the resurrection from the dead. Farrar
This resurrection power raised Jesus above every principality and authority and power and lordship, and every name named, not only in this age, but also in the coming one. Ephesians 1:21 This resurrection power of the holy spirit worked in the heart of Peter empowering him to speak boldly to Annas and Caiaphas, in contrast to his denial of his Lord after his arrest. Matthew 26:69-75, Luke 22:54-62; Acts 4:1-12, 13-22; 23-31
And it is this resurrection power that is at work in our lives:
I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation of the impact of full knowledge of him…that he will enlighten the eyes of your mind to fully know what is the favorable and confident expectation of his calling, and the great treasure of the honor and glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of his power towards us who believe according to the working of the might of his strength, which he wrought in the Christ, having raised him from among the dead, and he set him at his right hand in the heavenlies…. (Strong’s Interlinear and paraphrase based on Vines definition of various words) Ephesians 1:16-22
No power or scheme of any created being, no power or scheme of Satan and his minions, no power of government or conspiracy of habit of fallen man or fallen flesh, no challenge within or without, and no circumstance can match the power at work within us.
And this amazing power of the Holy spirit at work in us is the blessed result of His Faithful sacrifice. Hallelujah, What a Savior!
May we surrender to the work of this resurrection power at work in our hearts, reviving our discouragement, bringing life and divine vitality when we are faint, empowering us to speak the word of God boldly inside our own hearts and in our interaction and sharing with others.
