#682 Reverence for God is an Access to Wisdom and Confidence
One aspect of reverence is Awe. When I feel uneasy or anxious I have been practicing Awe for God and Christ, and Praise. Look at a flower, a tree, the sky, a mountain with eyes of gratitude, in awe of the diversity and intricacy of His Creative Work and this Awe leads to Praise. Look at the timing of His encouragement, the promise He reveals, the Words that He opens up to us (often through the sharing of our Brethren) in just the perfect timing. Consider this with a heart of gratitude, in Awe of the Master Weaver’s ability to knit together His Word and the fellowship of His Children, according to our deepest needs. This Awe leads to Praise.
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom…” Psalm 111:10a
Being in awe of Who He Is opens our hearts to HEAR and ABSORB what He says.
When we don’t know what to do, we can choose to be in Awe of His Presence,
and thus open our hearts to receive His Direction, with great cause for Praise!
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all they that do His commandments; his praise endureth forever.” Psalm 111:10
Being in awe of Who He Is connects us with His majesty and holiness, and can help to release fear and anxiety so that we can go forward with full assurance of faith knowing His overruling Providence is ours.
“In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence; and his children shall have a place of refuge.” Proverbs 14:26
