#477 Rewriting our Negative Memories and Thoughts Psalm 19.14
A testimony
Sometimes stress can wear us down…Though I continued to bring the challenges to Him, it took time for my fearful emotions to catch up with my Faith, and these emotions temporarily wore me out. This was my prayer: O LORD, how to regain love for life and eagerness for each new day. I am tired and worn and I need Your reviving spirit and inspiration. I surrender this stress to You. Help me—I know You ARE helping me…I wait in HOPE, trusting Your unfailing love and wisdom that is in process.
Nehemiah was given the responsibility to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. There was much opposition to this work. But Nehemiah had prayerful faith filled responses to every fear. (To be discussed at a future time.) He had a well thought out response to a collective conspiracy of the enemy to suddenly attack Jerusalem and kill everyone. He had a strong response of faith to persistent fear and discouragement. He examined the wall and identified the parts of the wall that were low and exposed. Then he stationed the people by the lowest parts of the wall, by families, with weapons, swords, spears and bows . Nehemiah 4:13 He prayerfully stationed people at the most vulnerable parts of the wall, and made sure they were armed.
This verse led me to pray that the LORD would reveal to me the vulnerable places in the wall of my character, and I would be stationed with awareness at those places, with the sword of the spirit, armed with the specific promises that would meet each place of vulnerability.
My prayer for this convention and time away became: Show me my vulnerabilities more clearly and how to be armed with specific promises. Hebrews 4:12
Proverbs 4:23 “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”
“Circumstance does not make the person—it simply reveals the true self.” Paul Allen / James Meyer See 1 Corinthians 3:13
Circumstance does not define us, it is the opportunity to define who we will be in Christ and who we will let God be in the circumstance.
2 Corinthians 10:4-5; Romans 12:2
I can sense Their important message in these verses: “We care about every thought you think.”
Every thought….As time went on the Lord opened my mind to the awareness to observe and notice each thought, and then to respond in prayer to surrender those thoughts to the power of God and Christ.
