Smallest Beginning, Greatest Gift

#325 Smallest Beginning, Greatest Gift
Wholly God so loved the world
You gave your Son to Calvary.
Boundless mercy broke through darkness
soon to make all people free.
“Through the tender compassion of our God…
a new day from on high will break on us,
dawning on those who now dwell in the darkness and shadow of death--
to direct our feet into the path of peace.”
Luke 1:78-79 Weymouth
“For unto us a child is born; unto us a Son is given;
and the government will be upon his shoulder”….Isaiah 9:6
The angel appeared to Mary with the promise that she would bear a son Jesus,
the Son of the Most High. Luke 1:30-33
The Greatest Gift of the Most High God was conceived in the womb of a peasant woman, and that Life was faithful even to the death of the cross! Soon the age old promise to Abraham will be fulfilled:
“In thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.” Genesis 28:14
“For the Creation was made subject to futility,
not of its own choice, but by the will of Him
who so subjected it in hope;
that the creation itself also would be set free from the thralldom of decay
to enjoy the freedom that comes with the glory of the children of God.”
Romans 8:19-21 Weymouth/NASB
God has highly exalted him, and given him a name that is above every name,
“that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth,
and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11
His Greatest Gift began with the Son of God reduced to a cell of life in the womb of Mary.
These smallest of beginnings bore the faithfulness of the Son of God even to Calvary’s cross and the resurrection of Christ Jesus; gave birth to the Bride of Christ,
whose ministry in Christ will bring forth the blessing of all our human family. Revelation 22:17
May we never despise the day of small beginnings. Zechariah 4:9-10
May we never lose sight of His power amid the looming schemes of Satan.
Thanks be to God for His unspeakable Gift.
