Something New

Good Morning!
After a very stressful two weeks at work, working an average of 12 hours a day, I felt burned out. I took Saturday as of a “Sabbath Rest”. When I woke up Sunday morning it struck me that TODAY IS NEW. I don’t have to put yesterday into today!
Much Love in Christ,
Joy
Something New
I am impressed with the account of the Angel Gabriel’s announcement to Mary in regard to the birth of the Son of God.
“Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. And behold you will conceive in your womb, and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus…”
Mary responded, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?
“The holy spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy offspring shall be called the Son of God.”
And Mary said, “Behold, the bond slave of the Lord; be it done to me according to your word.” Luke 1:30-38
Mary found favor with the Lord because her heart was full of faith and surrender. The favor of God would put her in a very challenging situation: to bear a child by the power of the holy spirit, during the time of her engagement, prior to the marriage consummation. Sometimes being favored of the Lord can be dangerous. But His Grace goes with the risk.
A lesson for us
We also are favored of the Lord. And He also has made us know that He wants to overshadow us with His spirit and create new life. This is a great privilege and it comes with great responsibility.
There are messengers of God that come into our lives to remind us of the work that God wishes to do within us. As each new challenge unfolds may we give Him permission to do something new. The past may be familiar and we may feel stuck in past habits or patterns of thinking. But resurrection power can create something new, if we are willing. When we give Him permission to do something new we are giving His power the permission to have dominion over the past. We are giving Him permission to exercise power over what seems impossible. When we give Him permission to do something new we open to His Possibility!
“And He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many will see and fear, and will trust in the LORD.” Psalm 40:3
“So that if anyone be in Christ there is a new creation; the old things passed away; lo, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
Let Him do something new so that we can BE NEW in Christ.
I am Your handmaiden, Lord. Be it done to me according to Your word.
