#362 Surely the LORD is in the place Genesis 28.16
The LORD has used the Genesis 28 account again to bless me and equip me.
I have been away from home for almost two weeks, very blessed to attend the General Convention and to be with my Mom and then with my family.
I see that the experience of the convention, the fellowship, the discourses and the experiences there and then at home have equipped me to return to life’s challenges.
Jacob fled from his brother Esau, aware of Esau’s expressions of anger and the intent to kill him. Genesis 27:41-45
As the sun set Jacob used a stone as a pillow and slept on the ground.
He had a dream of the ladder and angels ascending and descending upon it. There above the ladder stood the LORD.
He spoke with assurance to Jacob, the man who was uprooted from his home as he fled in fear.
Jacob and his descendants would be given the land that he slept upon.
The promise to Israel as a nation was given again, as well as the world-wide promise of blessing all the families of the earth. “All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring.” Genesis 28:10-15
“I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” Genesis 28:14-15
I hear the LORD speak to me through these words:
I have dealt with those who have gone before in the past and My faithfulness remains,
My promise of victory in Christ will unfold for you.
I am with you! And will protect you wherever you go, despite any ‘detour’ or ‘delay’ that I permit and overrule; Every word of promise will be fulfilled!
Jacob’s response holds a penetrating lesson:
“Surely the LORD is in this place and I did not know it.” Genesis 28:16
As I travel home the LORD reminds me to BE AWARE of the LORD’s presence and commitment in every challenge. O LORD, Open our eyes to see that You are there, in the place of our fear.
Amid his fear he made a declaration: “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven.” Genesis 28:17
The place of our fear and our stress is the gate of heaven, the access to His deliverance and blessing.
Sometimes our attention is so focused on our fear and discomfort we forget the Divine Reality: “SURELY the LORD is in this place!”
There is no better way to overcome fear and stress than to experience “SURELY the LORD is in this place!”
May our eyes be wide open to His presence and promise in every place of fear and challenge.
