#390 Teach me to be an influence that honors You
Do you have a realm of influence in your life that intimidates you at times? It could be the responsibilities of mother-hood, of father-hood, of friendship, of church privileges, the challenge of a job position. These responsibilities all entail a sphere of influence which requires different degrees and applications of leadership.
I have a wonderful challenge at work in the area of managing employees. I find great strength in claiming 1 Kings 3:7-9.
“And now O LORD my God, Thou hast made thy servant king…[a leader]
But I am a little child. I know not how to go out or come in.
And thy servant is in the midst of a great people which thou hast chosen,
a great people that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.
Give therefore thy servant an understanding [#8035 to hear intelligently with implication of attention, obedience] to judge thy people [#8199 pronounce sentence, to vindicate, punish, by ext to govern, passively to litigate] that I may discern [995 separate mentally or distinguish]
between good and bad.” 1 Kings 3:7-9
You have given me this privilege of influence and leadership.
But I need your help.
There are many people, many needs, many issues that need to be addressed.
Help me to intelligently listen to Your wisdom and guidance as I listen to these precious people, so that I can make righteous decisions, give proper discipline, exercise appropriate mercy and accountability.
Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed:
for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee;
he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee,
until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.
