#377 The Beauty of Flaw Wrapped in Perfection Revisited
I was sick and trying to sleep. Emotional and in prayer, memories came to my mind, of times I felt rejected and embarrassed because I realized the imperfection in what I had done as a service. I prayed to surrender these memories and the hurt within them. I prayed for the people involved. I asked the Lord, How else can I think of this? What is of value in myself that I am not seeing? What is of value in the others involved that I am not seeing? What are the possibilities in this experience? I have been mentored to ask questions such as this with curiosity. The very question itself opens up our mind and heart to receive an answer, and then we can rest, waiting for HIS Answer to be revealed.
And the LORD put in my mind the image of my Dad, before his passing, in the elevator of the facility he was in because of Alzeimers. He was seated in a wheel chair and singing on the top of his lungs, off key and with slurred words: “Glory, Glory hallelujah, OUR KING IS MARCHING ON!” And a wave of emotion came over me, as I sensed again his pure love for God and his pure beauty in that moment. I had written about this previously, and was reminded again that our Heavenly Father cherishes the beauty wrapped in imperfection.
We don’t have to be perfect to be Beautiful to God, or to one another.
Over and over my Dad taught me through his Alzheimer’s ,
that efforts wrapped in limitation and flaw,
done with a heart that truly loves God, are Beautiful.
God sees us through eyes of Love, through Christ. Romans 5:1-2; 8:1
“For as the heavens are high above the earth,
so great is His steadfast love toward those who fear Him.
As east is far from west, so far has He removed our sins from us.
As a father has compassion on his children,
so the LORD has compassion for those who fear Him.
For He knows how we are formed; He is mindful that we are dust.” Psalm 103:11-14 Tenach
“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the surpassing greatness of the power may be of God and not from ourselves.” 2 Corinthians 4:7 “…you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink, but with the spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone, but on tablets of human hearts…being transformed into the same image from glory to glory… 2 Corinthians 3:3, 18
There is beauty of ‘perfection’ wrapped in flaw is because our flaw is wrapped in his Perfection.
What do we see when we see the efforts of others, wrapped in limitation and flaw?
What do we see when we see our own?
Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.
O may we see with the Eyes of God.
I realized again that we are all like my Dad, limited by whatever our flaws and limitations.
All of our Brethren are in the same predicament.
Our Heavenly Father cherishes the beauty He sees in each of us, the beauty wrapped in imperfection.
O may we learn to see one another through these eyes of love.
O may we learn to see ourselves through these eyes of love.
The closing of one door of service may be experienced as a rejection, but it was the LORD’s way to refocusing my service to another area. The closing of that door was an act of Heavenly love.
“But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. O my strength, I sing praise to you; you God, are my fortress, my loving God.” Psalm 59:16-17
O LORD teach us to see and to trust that our imperfect gifts our cherished in Christ.
