The Cattle on a Thousand Hills

Good Morning!
I have been busy gathering paperwork for our IRS audit on our business. The paperwork will be delivered to the auditor on this Wednesday. A scheduled meeting will take place sometime after the auditor reviews the paperwork.
This morning I received a text from a sister who said, “Your IRS audit made me immediately think of the scripture that the cattle on a thousand hills are the Lord’s.”
That led me to review Psalm 50, which brought a wonderful refocus.
This audit is really an audit of my heart.
Much love in Christ,
joy
#220 The Cattle on a Thousand Hills Psalm 50.14
“A court scene is described in which God acts as Plaintiff and Judge with Israel as the defendant. His faults are exposed and the true aim of religion taught.” Soncino
“God, God, The LORD, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof…He calleth to the heavens above, and to the earth, and He may judge His people:
‘Gather My saints together unto Me; Those that have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.” Psalms 50:1,4-5
This verse can be applied to the Harvest of this Age. The Judge is “God, God, the LORD:” el elohim adonai: the Mighty One, the Judge, the Gracious One. (Soncino) This mighty, compassionate Judge reveals an important truth for our Christian lives.
“I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices; and thy burnt-offerings are continually before Me. I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he-goats out of thy folds.
For every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.”
“Offer unto God the sacrifice of thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the Most High…” Psalm 50:8-10, 14
We are reminded here that God does need our service, but He desires the heart devotion behind the service.
I am reminded that the issue of this audit is not ‘the cattle’ or the money, but the heart, “the sacrifice of thanksgiving.” The money you deal with is already mine.
The true issue is my heart attitude when I render to Caesar what is Caesar’s. “…Whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of God…” 1 Corinthians 10:31 One of my co-worker in Christ shared a thought with me on rendering to Caesar and rendering to God. The coin that Jesus referred to had the image of Caesar stamped on it. We, as human beings have the image of God stamped on us. And so we are to render to God what is God’s.
If the Lord permits the arm of government to get longer, the “intrusion” into our lives is a call to glorify Him, whether by grateful submission, or by taking a stand for Truth.
The true issue is how I related to the auditor—out of fear or out of love. When I think out of fear I do not see this auditor as a precious human being for whom Christ died.
I am grateful for this refocusing reminder!
When we look beyond the experience to the hidden gifts and challenges of what God intends, the experience is transformed, and so are we!
